Melanie is a German, Hungarian award-winning filmmaker residing in Los Angeles, California. She studied directing for film and television at The Media Academy Berlin and the University of Applied Sciences Mittweida, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in 2016.

Besides her studies, Melanie worked as a director, cinematographer, and editor for the Berlin-based company Kidsfaces - shooting commercials, image clips, and educational campaigns for Berlin’s Senate Department for Education Youth and Science, and special schools. Melanie focused on working with children from underrepresented communities, including refugees and minors with mental or physical disabilities.

After her graduation, she produced Eszter, a graduate film at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, and launched a successful Kickstarter campaign to realize Wonder, a personal and intimate silent short depicting the aftermath of a suicide attempt, which earned her admission to USC.

Since 2018 Melanie is pursuing her interdisciplinary MFA degree in Film Production at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, exercising her skills as a writer, director, cinematographer, and producer. Her recently produced 35 mm short film Togetherland was among the nominees at the LA Shorts International Film Festival.

In 2020 Melanie’s work as a cinematographer on the short documentary Driven, depicting the story of quadriplegic race car driver Mario Bonfante Jr., was praised by the BAFTA Selects committee for its extraordinary visual flair in addition to its nomination for the BAFTA Students Film Awards.

In 2021, Melanie won the Haskell Wexler ASC Student Documentary Award for her work on Driven.
